How often should I visit the dentist?

We recommend that you come in for a regular cleaning and examination at least once every six months.

Why do I need to get x-rays of my teeth?

While we always conduct a thorough exam of your teeth, there are some things we cannot see without some help. Cavities between teeth and soft spots in your enamel that are virtually invisible to the naked eye will show up on an x-ray. A low grade infection (an abscessed tooth) may not present any symptoms but will be visible on an x-ray. If we use x-rays to detect these changes, we can prevent further damage to your teeth.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is a blend of restorative and enhancing procedures that improve both the health and appearance of your teeth.

Why should I get composite fillings?

Fillings are used to replace missing tooth structure when damaged enamel and other tissue have been removed from a tooth, usually as a result of a cavity. Composite fillings do this nearly invisibly, since they are designed to match your tooth and look as natural as possible. Because they are also chemically bonded to your tooth, they seal the tooth better.

How does teeth whitening work?

A bleaching agent is placed in trays that fit over your teeth. This agent is left on the teeth for a period of time to allow the bleach to penetrate the enamel, lifting stains and brightening teeth. This procedure is usually done through a take home method. You can also achieve quicker results by having us apply the whitening agent directly onto your teeth during an in-office visit. Be sure to discuss your options during your visit.

How long does teeth whitening last? That depends on the individual. Most whitening procedures provide long lasting results. However, even after having your teeth whitened, discoloration may occur with age and the use of cigarettes, coffee, cola drinks, wine and other staining substances. Touch up whitening can be done periodically to brighten your smile again in these cases.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants essentially serve as replacements for missing teeth. They are made from surgical grade titanium, which are implanted into your upper or lower jaw bone. Once the implants are integrated with bone, they are used as a foundation for crowns, bridges or dentures. These restorations are carefully crafted to match the rest of your teeth so the full implant looks like a natural part of your smile.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?

In order for dental implants to be successful, there must be enough bone for the titanium root to grab onto, and gums and other surrounding tissues must be in good health. For someone who does not have enough bone in their jaw, a bone graft can be used to supplement it. If you are interested in dental implants, be sure to discuss them with your dentist and find out if you are a good candidate.

How do traditional orthodontic procedures straighten my teeth?

Brackets and wires work together to apply pressure to your teeth. This pressure causes them to shift into place. Your braces must be adjusted periodically to ensure that your teeth are moving properly, and you will need to wear a retainer once your braces are removed to ensure that your teeth do not move out of alignment.

How do Clear Correct invisible braces straighten my teeth?

With Clear Correct invisible braces, your teeth are gradually shifted into place by a series of clear, customized plastic aligners. The aligners apply pressure to your teeth, encouraging them to move into the desired position. Each aligner is designed to apply minimal pressure to achieve maximum results.

Why are straight teeth important?

Straight, evenly spaced teeth are easier to keep clean, which promotes general oral health. An improved bite can allow you to chew food more efficiently, thereby aiding in digestion, and speak more clearly, thus eliminating unnecessary miscommunications. Undue stress on your teeth and jaw from improperly aligned teeth can cause headaches and stress on the surrounding tissues and the jaw joints; straightening teeth can help correct these problems.

Should I straighten my teeth with veneers or braces?

That depends on your dental needs and preferences. Schedule a consultation to find out what option is best for you.

Why do I need Perio Protect non-surgical gum treatment?

Perio Protect is a non-invasive treatment for gum disease. Rather than using surgical or other invasive procedures, Perio Protect uses chemical solutions to manage the bacteria that can grow between your gums and your teeth. By both killing harmful bacteria and creating an environment where they are less likely to grow again, Perio Protect can help improve your general health easily and effectively.

What dental insurance do you accept?

We work with all dental insurance companies. We will always file your insurance for you and do everything we can to maximize your insurance benefits.

What if I don’t have insurance?

We accept all major credit cards. We also have financing programs that will allow you to get the dental care that you need. Please inquire about your options at your next visit.

Do I need to make an appointment or do you accept walk-ins?

We prefer you to call for an appointment. That way we can ensure that you receive our complete attention. However, we try to work with patients without appointments if time allows.
